Here are some punchy highlights from a tub-thumping speech by the Rt. Hon. Greg Hands MP, in the Lord Nelson pub on the Isle of Dogs.
Our new Chief Secretary to the Treasury was speaking yesterday to 100+ activists from Conservative Way Forward and London CF - we had all just spent the day campaigning in the mayoralty by-election in Tower Hamlets.
We covered the whole borough in an afternoon: delivering 28,000 newspapers, and canvassing 5 wards of voters.
We were there to support our fantastic Conservative candidate Cllr Peter Golds, who has worked hard for the local community for decades, building up the local Conservative Association out of nothing. Through those years, he has always been a champion for free speech, democracy, affordable housing, and keeping the Council tax down. In recent years, he fought a brave - and ultimately victorious! - battle against the corruption of the Socialist ex-Mayor Lutfar Rahman.
We were delighted that CWF could come and support him in such strong numbers.
We were joined also by strong campaigners from across the senior ranks of the Conservative Party, including: Syed Kamall MEP, Stephen Greenhalgh, Victoria Borwick MP, Jackie Doyle-Price MP, and many more!
