CWF and London CF's joint mayoral BBQ was a rip-roaring success at the weekend. After some important campaigning, Andrew Boff and Zac Goldsmith both did a Q&A session about why they should be the Conservative candidate to be mayor. A slap-up BBQ followed in the summer sun.
The day started with 65 people going out to campaign in the marginal seat of Ealing Central and Acton. The Conservatives only lost this parliamentary seat by 274 votes back in May. If we continue to campaign in this seat, there is a good chance we will win it back. Despite all predictions it was a bright and sunny day. Perfect weather to encourage people to vote Conservative.
We then went to fill a massive room with over 100 people to hear Zac Goldsmith speak about why he should be Mayor of London. Questions were very varied, from housing to HS2 and Runways to the RMT. Zac received several rounds of applause during the speech he gave. CWF was furiously live tweeting the event on #bluelondon2016. Go check out what was said.
We then assembled for the group photo. But Zac Goldsmith wanted to have his own extra special selfie.
Looking good guys.
Andrew Boff then took to the stage to set out his vision for London. Boff used a great deal of jokes in his answers, he has shown that good sense of humour before. Andrew highlighted his work and that of the Conservatives on the GLA. Their work can be searched for under #ToryReports. Again this was all live tweeted by CWF.
We then had a few drinks and a superb BBQ provided by the Fox and Goose pub. Attendees were really impressed, not only could they quiz the Conservative mayoral candidates, but even sit down and talk with them over a pint. The openness and clued-up answers given by both Boff and Goldsmith show a great level of maturity in the Conservative selection process. We are not seeing this with Labour for sure.
But what made this brilliant day even better was that the event was trending across the UK. Members of the public were checking out #BlueLondon2016 and carefully considering whether to back the Conservatives in 2016. Both CWF and London CF put in a lot of effort into this day. It's great to see them rewarded with such a huge success.
