Dr Martin Parsons: Brexit - it isn't a divorce

During the referendum Brexit was repeatedly portrayed as a divorce. It wasn’t and isn’t for the rather obvious reason that as a country we were never actually married to the EU. One could of course argue that as the EU moved towards ‘ever closer union’, we could perhaps be described as being engaged. But in no sense could the UK be described as having entered into a marital union. Continue reading

The Rt. Hon Theresa Villiers: Delivering a Strong Economy

My greatest goal in politics is a strong economy. Without that, it becomes almost impossible to deliver any other political goal. We need sound public finances and a strong economy to fund the NHS, schools and all the public services we value. I believe that this issue is central to the choice facing voters at this election. Matt Smith: Time to introduce identity document checks at polling stations

In his independent report Securing the ballot: review into electoral fraud, Sir Eric Pickles, the Government’s Anti-Corruption Champion, argues Britain’s historically trust-based voting system is no longer tenable when local populations are denser and transient. Identity document (ID) checks on individuals voting in person should be applied at polling stations to safeguard the integrity of the electoral system. The Government will introduce electoral integrity pilots at the local elections in May 2018.   Continue reading

'Following the success of our two conferences last year, we are delighted to announce that our 2018 Conference will be taking place on 12 May 2018.

Taking place at an iconic central London venue, this year’s conference will be entitled ‘A Conservative Renaissance’, and will focus on how conservatism can offer a bright future for the UK after Brexit.

One of the most senior members of the Cabinet, Secretary of State for Defence Gavin Williamson, has agreed to deliver the keynote speech, and a range of Government Ministers, MPs and other leading political figures will give their take on what the future of conservatism looks like in the UK. Suella Fernandes, James Cleverly, John Glen, Helen Grant and Nadhim Zahawi are already confirmed - more to be announced.

Our last conference sold out ahead of time, so save the date in your diary as this conference is not one to be missed. Tickets are now on sale and include all-day access to the conference, tea and coffee on arrival and lunch.'

The Freedom Rally!

  • Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM – September 25, 2018
  • From Westminster to Brussels!
  • 1 person is going

CWF are planning 'A Freedom Rally' to Brussels by way of a car rally.

The plan is to congregate with around 20 individually sponsored cars in Westminster on Friday 21st September at 10am!

Here's the plan:

Day 1

Meet in Westminster and drive to Dover for the journey to France.  We will stay over night in Epernay and enjoy a well-earned delicious dinner in a Michelin star restaurant.

Day 2

We will enjoy a visit to Chateau Pierry, former workplace of Dom Perignon and then enjoy a driving tour of the scenic area.  This will be followed by a free evening to enjoy the delights of Epernay.

Day 3

We will depart Epernay and drive in convoy up to Sedan on the Maginot line.  This will be followed by a delicious dinner in a Chateau.

Day 4

After a rest, we will head north through the Ardennes Forest into Luxemburg and then onto our final destination Brussels.  We will celebrate our last night with a farewell dinner...and a very special guest!

Day 5

Having stocked up with a hearty breakfast, we'll head for the port and back to UK.

Unlike most car rallies, the aim will be to keep the mileage low and the food and hotel quality high!  We are looking to obtain a minimum donation of £4,000 to sponsor a car.  The price includes based on two people sharing luxury accommodation and includes at least two dinners.  We will have a few options available for how to sponsor your car, including corporate sponsorship.

*no special car needed
